The fascinating game played between ancient authenticity and modern uses...

Organic handcrafted material made from the bark of the East African fig tree. Seasonally picked, one uniqueness after another. The charm of this very material are its pieces, one-of-a-kind and all perfectly individual - no bit of bark sheet is ever going to either look, or feel the same - even when it comes to serial products.

Further enhanced and heartened BARK CLOTH.

"It is ideal to serve for architectural projects and products where individuality plays a central role."

Production process

The BARKTEX® production varies on the targeted purpose and its range. Their textiles and composites are manufactured in a low energy & water, partly CO2-emission-free process.

The tree bark is peeled off and then pounded by manual processing to a flat cloth, known under the alias of Bark Cloths - the company's renowned textile material. The further production of textiles and composites is based on Bark Cloths, leaving BARKTEX® with a range of differing aesthetic qualities under the applied influence of many traditional techniques.
